Grand Slam for 1st Time Winners in Golf!
We take a break from healthcare news this week to Congratulate Jimmy Walker for winning his first Golf Major this Sunday at the PGA Championship at Baltusrol in Springfield, New Jersey. (The Scots must be happy!) Mr. Walker shot a -14 under par for the tournament earning him a wire-to-wire victory that capped a season of 1st Time winners at all four of the Majors this year.
The four 1st time 2016 Major Champions are:
• Danny Willett – The Masters • Dustin Johnson – The US Open • Henrik Stenson – The Open Championship • Jimmy Walker – PGA Championship
And while the PGA Tour rolls on to the Travelers Championship at TPC River Highlands in Hartford, Connecticut, much of the golf & sports world will turn its attention to the 31st Olympic Games in Rio, kicking off with Opening Ceremonies this Friday, August 5th, and where the world’s best athletes, including golfers this time, play for Gold and National Pride.
The
Olympic Golf Tournament runs from August 11th – 14th! This is the first time in over 100 years that Golf will be a part of the Summer Olympics – Golf was last included in the 1904 games in St. Louis, Missouri.
The Men’s and Women’s tournaments will take place at the newly constructed Marapendi Olympic Golf Course built within the Marapendi Natural Reserve in the Barra da Tijuca zone of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The Gil Hanse-designed course looks to be ready for the Olympic Games.
Go Team USA!
And [shameless plug] as we all watch Olympic Golf this year, while working on our own swings no doubt, please keep in mind that the 2nd Annual HSR Charity Golf Tournament will again be held at the Norbeck Country Club in Rockville, Maryland on May 8, 2017! See you there!
