Datasets
We have developed several risk indices supporting the emergency response community identify in advance the health and medical needs of a disaster-impacted population. These are tailored to specific naturals disasters, such as hurricanes, drought, floods, and wildfires. Each index involves the creation of 8-9 individual datasets of value to different parties.

Our datasets are available on the our GeoMD Platform as well as on the AWS Marketplace.

The emergency response community can use these risk indices to plan for the provisioning of emergency health resources within their overall disaster response planning operation. The public health community and health systems can use these to plan for the surge capacity and resources needed to provide care to the affected. City/urban planners and policy makers can use these to design cities in a way that limits disaster risk exposure, maximizes quick evacuation, and ensure the development of sustainable living & working environments. Below are the datasets created by our Wildfire Health Risk Index.
Dataset | Description | Geospatial Granularity |
---|---|---|
Wildfire Health and Social Data | Authoritative data on the health and social factors that influence risk from exposure to wildfires. | State, County, ZIP Code, Census Tract |
Wildfire Health Risk Index | Risk indicator for health complication based on exposure to wildland fire | State, County, ZIP Code, Census Tract |
Wildfire Health Risk Data and Index | Combination of the above two into a single dataset | State, County, ZIP Code, Census Tract |
Wildfire Historical Extents | Authoritative data on past wildfires | Polygons |
Wildfire Historical Extents, Risk Data and Index | Packaged dataset of historical data, current data, and risk index | State, County, ZIP Code, Census Tract, polygons |
Wildfire Projected Health and Social Data (Synthetic) | Synthesized health and social data to current/future date | State, County, ZIP Code, Census Tract |
Wildfire Health Risk Data and Index (Synthetic) | Risk prediction based on synthetic data to aid long-term response, mitigation, and city development planning | State, County, ZIP Code, Census Tract |
Future Prediction of Health Impacts from Wildfires | Based on our risk index, as well as other indices such as the Fire Weather Index (or alternate), and for the duration of the current fire season | State, County, ZIP Code, Census Tract |
Future Prediction of Impacts to Health Infrastructure from Wildfires | Based on indices such as the Fire Weather Index (or alternate), and for the duration of the current fire season | Points |
During the Pandemic, we developed a number of risk indices responsive to emergent needs of governments and organizations globally. Among these include a risk index to identify the region of the world most at risk of a Zoonotic Spillover event, the cause of most epidemics and pandemics. This risk index alone generates 8 datasets that we feel have broader scope than the Index itself. For instance, builders and city/urban planners may want to know the changes in land use over time (Change in LULC Classification Rasters dataset). Pharmaceuticals may want to know not only the regions at risk of novel disease, but the underlying health factors to inform and direct their vaccine and medication R&D efforts (Health Factor Dataset). And global public health will benefit from knowing where to direct surveillance and early response efforts.
Dataset | Description | Geospatial Granularity |
---|---|---|
LULC Classification Rasters | Land use classification based on available spectral imagery | Raster |
Change in LULC Classification Rasters | Change between 2018-2020years of choice, for national or admin level of choice | Raster |
LULC Classification by Administrative Division | Classification of land use by administrative region | Admin01, Admin02, Admin03 |
LLM Extracted historical disease outbreak data | Disease outbreak data mined from historical reports from the WHO and other sources. | |
Social and Health Dataset | For use in assessing health risks | Admin01, Admin02, Admin03 |
Health Factor Dataset | The relative value of the risk factors for zoonotic spillover | Admin01, Admin02, Admin03 |
Zoonotic Spillover Risk Index | The relative risk of a zoonosis event occurring by region | Admin01, Admin02, Admin03 |
Health Factor Dataset, Zoonotic Spillover Risk Index and Historical Disease Outbreak | Packaged dataset of historical data, current data, and risk index | Admin01, Admin02, Admin03 |
In addition, we have developed risk indices responsive to global public health challenges. For instance, with growing concern over plastics in our food supply and oceans, we’ve built a Plastic Bioaccumulation Health Risk Index to assess the health risks from exposure to plastic contaminated oceans, waterways, and sea food. This Index produces 10 datasets that may be of interest to wide audiences. For instance, environmental organizations and law firms have expressed interest in our Ocean Plastics and Projected Ocean Plastics datasets.
Dataset | Description | Geospatial Granularity |
---|---|---|
Plastic Bioaccumulation Health and Social Data | As related to health concerns stemming from the bioaccumulation of plastics and related toxins | Admin01, Admin02, Admin03 |
Ocean Plastics | Surface plastic presence in body of water | Raster |
Plastics Bioaccumulation Health Risk Index | Health risks associated with the bioaccumulation of plastics and related toxins | Admin01, Admin02, Admin03 |
Plastics Bioaccumulation Health Risk Data and Index | Risk indicator and underlying risk data | Admin01, Admin02, Admin03 |
Plastics Bioaccumulation Historical Extents | Past view of plastic presence in bodies of water | Admin01, Admin02, Admin03 |
