In the Shadow of New Pain Treatments?

CBS Evening News with Scott Pelley is doing a multi-part series on opioid addiction in America, “In the Shadow of death: Jason’s Journey”. The series documents Jason’s, a heroin addict, road to recovery, and offers an honest and stark portrayal of the life of an addict. Many who succumb to addiction, do so not through illegal drugs, but through legal, prescription pain killers.

Stories like Jason’s, and those of countless others addicted to narcotics and opioids, offer another reminder of how crucial our work is in developing treatments for pain that do not rely on opioids.
